Title: Profitably Exploiting Near-Earth Object Resources
Summary / Review : This is an excellent overview of commercial exploitation of asteroids in a rather lengthy paper with good references. However, the author focuses on retrieval of platinum as the sole product of a mission to an asteroid, with extra revenues potentially coming from corporate sponsorship, advertising, media licensing, branded consumer products such as toys, and scientific data. The author provides an analysis of the platinum market and projects revenues of 400 to 1 billion dollars for a mission.
