ID No : | 121 Edit | Title: | Development and Mechanical Properties of Structural Materials from Lunar Simulants |
Summary / Review : |
Excellent paper on structural materials from space resources. From the author's abstract: "... This chapter provides a brief review of various methods such as sintering and casting for the manufacture of construction materials from lunar simulants. Then two alternative and [at the time] new methods are developed and described. They involve (1) thermal liquefaction ... and (2) compaction of dry simulants under different vacuum lefels ... The stress-strain-strength properties ... are determined by using beam bending, uniaxial compression and triaxial compression tests...." - MP
