ID No : | 112 Edit | Title: | Design and Operation of the Sub-Orbital Lunar Explorer |
Summary / Review : |
Rough assessment for a small "Sub-Orbital Lunar Explorer (SOLE)" for lunar surface transport as an alternative to wheeled vehicles -- a ballistic, rocket powered craft. Would not have any capability to reach orbit. It could perform unmanned missions such as sampling sites, moving robots over a wider area, imaging terrain in detail, remote sensing, and deploying and retrieving equipment, including prior to or in support of manned expeditions. - MP
